In this year 2017 we are working on this project:
Training Workshop – First Phase – Peace Clubs Project NCPD
Peace Clubs Project:
The important role of young people in building peace and challenging violent extremism is gaining recognition within the international community. The United Nations Security Resolution on Youth, Peace, and Security (SCR 2250), passed in December 2015, is evidence of this trend. It represents a shift from the split of youth as either perpetrators or victims of violence to a perspective in which youth are viewed as agents of positive change and peace.
NCPD organizes a series of Peace Building Workshops in five Universities throughout Sudan (as pilot project). Our aim is to reduce conflicts and violence in colleges among youth and communities through a series of conflict resolution workshops for students and their teachers. These workshops will train and strengthen the conflict resolution counter extremism abilities of these students. The workshops will promote a culture of peaceful relationships in participant colleges by establishing Peace Clubs.
The first phase of the project was the training of a number of volunteer lecturers to work in the project from 20 Sudanese universities. NCPD held a workshop in the center for 3 days on peace building, conflict resolution and training and facilitation methods. Upon the return of the lecturers to their colleges, each lecturer selects 25 students ready to attend training workshops And three-week workshops (one-day workshop) at their colleges. This will be part of the process of creating a group of Peace Club. During the third week of training, posters, leaflets, art pieces, activities and other teaching aids are produced that will help them facilitate their work with their peers.
Second Phase: Universities Activities
The training workshop entitled “Peacebuilding and Conflict Resolution – Extremism and its Threat” was concluded on Monday, October 23, 2017 to a group of students from the University of Khartoum, which lasted for three days (21-23 October) within the Peace Clubs project targeting a number of Sudanese universities, it’s aims to fight Conflict and violence between students and extremism and how to address the threat of extremism in universities among young people and communities.
